JPND grant for genetic Alzheimer's risk profiling

Early 2019, the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) initiative launched a call for multinational research projects on personalised medicine for neurodegenerative diseases.

One of the grants was awarded to a project coordinated by Prof. Bart De Strooper (VIB-KU Leuven). Other partners are Prof. Rik Vandenberghe (UZ Leuven), Valentina Escott-Price (Cardiff University, UK) and Jeroen Pasterkamp (UMC Utrecht, The Netherlands). The project is entitled TRIAGE: 'TRanslating Individual Alzheimer GEnetic risk into disease phenotypes'. By linking personalized polygenic risk scores to underlying pathological mechanisms, it aims to contribute to improved patient stratification, tailored diagnostic tools, and the identification of new preventative and therapeutic strategies.
