Spring visit to the Bay Area

In March, our program development officer Dr. Jenny Ceccarini went on her first business trip outside Europe since the start of the coronavirus pandemic - and the first one since she started her journey for Mission Lucidity. Destination: the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

The main goals of her trip were to touch base with our existing partners at Amici Lovanienses and Stanford University, and expand her network in the search for new promising collaborative opportunities.

Jenny got introduced to the board of Amici Lovanienses and was taken in tow by chairman Prof. André Oosterlinck and Prof. Guy Mannaerts during her visits to Stanford University and other partnering research institutes.

Prof. Patrik Verstreken and Dr. Dries Braeken from the brain-on-a-chip team happened to also be in the area for a CZI Neurodegeneration Challenge Network event and joined her for several meetings.

It has been a great occasion for me and the rest of the brain-on-a-chip team to share the many promising advancements we made recently with the project, and to discuss the next steps with our USA group of visionary philanthropists and friends who are with us in this joint effort.

At Mission Lucidity, we are convinced that collaboration plays a major part in advancing neuroscience, technology, and innovation to find answers to important societal challenges like neurodegeneration. “This is the best possible motivation for me to remain committed to my ambitions for Mission Lucidity. I am so much looking forward to picking up these personal contacts during my next visit to the US in the autumn”, concludes Jenny.
